Navigational forward looking infrared (navflir) set is used on the night attack and radar attack configuration of the av-8b. The navflir isa passive infrared navigational system designed to increase the attack capability of the av-8b at night or during conditions of low visibility. The navflir provides the pilot with a high resolution video image of a fixed area in front of the aircraft by converting thermal radiation into a television compatible video signal.
