health hazards acute and chronic: inhalation: if acid is spilled from
battery, inhalation of mist is possible. Skin: may cause irritative
contact dermatitis. Eye: can irritate the eyes. Ingestion: hands
contaminated by contact with in ternal components of a battery can
cause ingestion of lead/ lead compounds. Chronic effects: damage to
kidneys & cns.

explanation of carcinogenicity: testing showed that there is
insufficient evidence to show that lead can or cannot cause cancer.

effects of overexposure: acute effects of overezposure are gi upset
which may be loss of appetite, diarrhea and/or constipation with
cramping, difficulty in sleep0ing, and fatigue. Contact with
sulfuric acid may lead to acute irritation of the skin, corneal
damageof the eyes, and irritation of the mucous membranes.
