health hazards acute and chronic: inhal: severe irritant. Corr action on
muc memb & resp tract may prdce nasal irrit & burning sensation in
throat. Ingest: toxic. Corr to mouth & gi tract. Symps may include
abdominal pain, dizz, vomit, intense thirst, shock & kidney
failure.Fatal dose may be as low as 5 grams. Skin: corr. May prdce
(see efts of overexp)
explanation of carcinogenicity: sodium dichromate: group 1 (ntp);iarc
-group 1
effects of overexposure: hlth haz: skin rashes & ulcers. Bichromates are
skin sensitizers. Eye: corr. May cause conjunct if in cntct w/eyes.

chronic: rptd skin cntct may lead to incapacitating derm & slow
healing ulcers. Rptd in hal may cause perforation of nasal septum.

bichromates primarily toxic to kidneys, liver & gi tract. (see ing
