Ld50 lc50 mixture: lc50 (inh,rat): 444 ppm(hydrogen sulfide)
reports of carcinogenicity: ntp: no iarc: no osha: no
health hazards acute and chronic: target organs: respiratory system,
blood system, cns, cvs, reproductive system, skin, eyes. Acute: due
to small size of individual cylinder, no unudual health effects are
anticipated under routine use . However, hydrogen sulfide and
carbon monoxide are toxic. Over-exposure can cause nausea,
dizziness, headache, collapse, unconsciousness, com and death.
hydrogen sulfide can irritate skin and eyes. S evere eye
contamination can result in blindness. Chronic: severe overexposure
to hydrogen sulfide, which do not result in death, may cause
long-term symptoms such as memory loss, paralysis, nerve dama ge,
eye damage.
explanation of carcinogenicity: the components of this gas mixture are
not considered to be, nor suspected to be, cancer causing agents by
osha, ntp, iarc agencies.
effects of overexposure: hydrogen sulfide: odor is unpleasant. May be
irritating to skin. Inflammation and irritation of eyes can occur
at very low airborne concentration (
cause pain, blurring visio n, tearing. Dryness and irritation of
nose, throat, respiratory system, headache, vomiting, nausea.
carbon monoxide: bright red lips and fingernails, headache,
palpitation of heart, mental confusion, nausea, unconsciousness.
concentrated oxygen: increased breathing and pulse rates, emotional
upset, fatigue, disturbed respiration, nausea, vomiting, loss of
consciousness, collapse, death.
medical cond aggravated by exposure: skin disorders and respiratory
conditions may be aggravated by repeated over-exposure to the
gases. Carbon monoxide can aggravate some diseases of cardiovasculr
system (coronary artery, angina pectoris)
First aid: rescuers should wear personal protective equipment. At a
minimum, self-contained breathing apparatus must be worn. No
unusual health effects are anticipated after exposure to this
product, due to smal l cylinder size. If any adverse
symptomdevelops, remove victim(s) quickly to fresh air. Trained
personnel should give oxygen and/or cpr if necessary. Skin: if
irritation develops, immediately begin de contamination with
running water for 15 minutes. Eye: if irritation develops, open
victim eyes while under gentle running water. Minimum flushing is
for 15 minutes. Seek medical assistance immediatley , preferably an
ophthalmologist.

presence of hydrogen sulfide; 0.13
percent volatiles by volume: n/r (gas)
Stability indicator/materials to avoid: yes
titanium will burn in nitrogen ( main component of product). Lithium
reacts slowly w/nitrogen at ambient temperatures. Components of
product (hydrogen sulfide, methane) also incompatible with strong
oxidizers.
stability condition to avoid: normally stable in gaseous state. Avoid
contact with incompatible materials. Cylinders exposed to high
temperatures or direct flame can rupture or burst.
hazardous decomposition products: thermal decomposition products of
methane include carbon oxides; of hydrogen sulfide include water
and sulfur oxides. Other components do not decompose, but can react
with others in heat of fire.
conditions to avoid polymerization: will not occur
Waste disposal methods: for emergency disposal, secure cylinder and
slowly discharge gas to atmosphere in a well-ventilated area or
outdoors. Allow gas mixture to dissipate. Waste disposal must be in
accordance with appropri ate federal, state, and local regulations.
cylinders with undesired residual product may be safely v ented
outdoors with the proper regulator.
