explanation of carcinogenicity: carbon black: iarc monographs, vol 65,
pg 149, 1996: group 2b.
effects of overexposure: hlth haz: may cause headache, nausea,
dizziness, vomiting, weakness & difficulty breathing. High concs &
prlngd overexp can be damaging to gi system, respiratory system,
cns, kidneys, liver & cause vi sual disturbances including corneal
damage. (based on liquid forms of 2-butoxyethanol & dibutyl
phthalate - ingestion.)
medical cond aggravated by exposure: persons with kidney impairment or
disease should not work with dibutyl phthalate (overexposure not
likely unless ingested).
First aid: eyes: flush eyes with water for at least 15 minutes. Skin:
wash skin with soap and water. Inhalation: remove to fresh air. Use
artificial respiration if needed. Ingestion: do not induce
vomiting. Get medical attention immediately.
