Hazards

Routes of entry: inhalation: yes skin: yes ingestion: yes
reports of carcinogenicity: ntp: no iarc: no osha: no
health hazards acute and chronic: prolonged or repeated inhalation of
oil mist may cause pneumonia, lung tissue inflammation, and/or
fibrous tissue formation. Prolonged or repeated eye contact may
cause inflammation of the membrane li ning the eyelids and covering
the eyeball (conjunctivitis). Prolonged or repeated skin contact
may cause drying, cracking, redness, itching, and/or swelling
(dermatitis).

explanation of carcinogenicity: no known carcinogenicity. No animal skin
carcinogenicity tests of these materials have been conducted.

neither iarc, ntp, acgih, nor osha have classified these materials
as to their carcinogenic risk.

effects of overexposure: inhalation-high concentrations of vapor or mist
may irritate the respiratory tract (nose, throat, and lungs).

eyes-brief, direct contact with product may cause irritation.

skin-brief, direct contact w ith product may cause irritation. A
single, prolonged exposure is not likely to cause the product to be
absorbed through the skin in harmful amounts. Ingestion-may cause
throat irritation, nausea, vom iting and diarrhea. Breathing
product into lungs during ingestion or vomiting may cause lung
injury and possible death.

medical cond aggravated by exposure: individuals with pre-existing,
respiratory tract (nose, throat and lungs), eye, and/or skin
disorders may have increased susceptibility to the effects of
exposure.

First Aid

First aid: inhalation-remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give cpr.

if breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention.

eye-immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, for 15 min. If
irritation/re dness develops, move away from exposure. Get medical
attention. Skin-remove contaminated clothing/shoes. Wash skin
thoroughly with soap & water. Get medical attention. If product is
injected under pre ssure into/ under the skin, a physician should
immediately evaluate the individual. Ingestion-immediately get

iarc: no
osha: no
effects of exposure: eye: this product is not expected to cause eye irritation.

avoid prolonged contact with the eyes. Skin: this product is not expected to
cause skin irritation. Prolonged or repeated contact may lead to an allergic
skin sensitization in some individuals. Inhalation: overexposure by
inhalation of hot material may cause nonspecific discomfort. Caution should
be taken to prevent forming aerosol or mist ing of this product without
proper respiratory protection. Ingestion: do not ingest. Due to the expected
concentraction of oil (70-100%) ingestion is expected to be relatively
non-toxic unless lung as piration occurs.

explanation of carcinogenicity: none
signs and symptions of overexposure: eye: mild eye discomfort, tearing or
blurring of vision. Skin: dermatitis (dryness, chapping and reddening of
skin). Ingestion: aspiration may lead to chemical pneumonitis, which is
characterized by p ulmonary edema and hermorrhage and may be fatal. Signs of
lung involvment include increased respiratory rate, increased heart rate, and
a bluish discoloration of the skin. Coughing, choking, and gaggi ng are often
noted at the time of aspiration. Gastrointestinal discomfrot may develop,
followed by vomiting with a further risk of aspiration. This product has
laxative properties and may result in ab dominal cramps and diarrhea.

medical cond aggravated by exposure: not provided
first aid: eye: immediately flush with plenty of water. Continue flushing until
irritation subsides. If irritation persists call physician. If material is
hot, treat for thermal burns and take victim to hospital immediately. Skin:
wash with soap and water. If redness/irritation occurs, see doctor. If
material is hot, submerge injured area in cold water. If victim is severely
burned, remove to a hospital. Inh alation: remove to fresh air. If breathing
is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing has stopped, give artificial
respiration. See doctor. Ingestion: do not induce vomiting. Do not give
anything by mout h, if unconscious. See doctor at once.

Reactivity

Hazard and precautions: target organs: n/p. Avoid eye contact. Keep out of
reach of children. If in eyes, flush with water. If on skin, wash with soap
and water. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Call physician. If inha
led, move to fresh air. If spilled, place in container.

Proper Disposal

spill release procedures: immediately turn off sources of ignition. Evacuate
area and ventilate. Personnel wearing proper protective equipment should
contain spill with inert materials (sand, earth). Prevent entry into sewers
and waterways. Pick up large spills with explosion-proof vacuum pumps,
shovels, or buckets, and disposed of in suitable containers for disposal. If
a large spill occurs notify appropriate authorities.

neutralizing agent: not relevant
waste disposal methods: place used, contaminated, or excess material into
disposable containers and dispose of in a manner consistent with local and
state regulations. Contact local environmental or health authorities for ap
proved disposal of this material. Most used oil is reclaimed or incinerated.

handling and storage precautions: store containers away from heat, sparks, open
flame, or oxidizing materials. Keep containers closed when not in use. Do not
transfer to unmarked containers. Fire extinguishers should be kept readily a
vailable. See nfpa 30 and osha 1910.106 - flammable and combustible liquids.

other precautions: empty containers retain product residue which may exhibit
hazards of material, therefore do not pressurize, cut, glaze, weld or use for
any other purposes. Return drums to reclamation centers for prop er cleaning
and reuse.
