health hazards acute and chronic: eyes: mechanical injury by dust. Fumes
may cause irritation. Avoid eye contact by any particulate material
produced by processing or machining. Skin: mechanical injury.
incidence of dermititis is rare . Any cuts or breaks in skin should
be protected from contact with alloy. Inhalation: avoid inhalation
of any dust or fumes generated by machining, melting, welding or
any operation. Natural thorium i s an alpha emitter. ingestion:
avoid ingestion of particulate material. While acute problems are
unlikely, chronic effects may develop if magnesium thorium alloy
dust was ingested over long period.
explanation of carcinogenicity: per msds: thorium as tho2 is a carcinogen
and an alpha emmitter. (it's not a mutagen nor a teratogen.)

gastrointestinal tract reported in animal studies. Zinc-crhomosomal
anomalies in leukocytes reported.
medical cond aggravated by exposure: none specified by manufacturer.
First aid: eyes: flush with water or 0.9% w/w sterile solution of sodium
chloride. F foreign body cannot be removed by flushing seek medical
aid. Skin: thoroughly clean any cuts to remove any trace of
contaminat ion proir to dressing. Splinters should be removed &
wound dressed with magnesium sulphate. Inhaationl: move to fresh
