General Description
Yis fabricated from heavy cast iron, so that it will remain rigid during the inspection of the instrument for its various adjustments and observation of the target through the collimating telescope; two large circular scales, one for elevation and one for crossleveling, are installed on the fixture.These are actuated by rotation of the elevation and crossleveling handwheels which impart motion to the worm wheel mechanisms; each scale is graduated in degrees.The readings are refined to minutes by means of verniers installed on the fixture.The elevation handwheel simulates the elevation tracking mechanism of the weapon.The crossleveling handwheel tilts the elevation trunnion of the fixture and simulates the gun and howitzer in a cant position
