Drive Shank Bolt

An externally threaded fastener, made of high strength metal, whose threaded portion is of one diameter. The unthreaded portion is of a specific grip length, and is ground to a close tolerance in order to provide a drive fit in a specific size hole. It may be plated or unplated. The head is not designed to be driven by a screwdriver or wrench. The item is driven into the parts to be fastened by means of a mallet or similar item.
