Stain

A liquid or powder composition that colors porous or nonporous material such as wood, snow, and the like. it may be transparent or translucent. it may be a dye dissolved in water, alcohol, or in toluene liquid. it may be a mixture of colored pigment, drying oil, and thinner, or a mixture of colored pigment or dye and varnish. it may be a mixture of colored pigment, wood preservative, drying oil and thinner commonly used for staining shingles. excludes water color.
