Propellant Actuated Release

A release which utilizes gas pressure to accomplish separation by shearing the pi (s) which lock(s) the piston to the chamber, or freeing a piston from its locking mechanism. It has a means of attachment at both ends for components and may include a delay element. It is designed to release such items as bombs, parachutes attached to external stores, stores containers, hatches, crash locator beacons, and the like.
